Women in black
(2015–2017)
Women in Black questions the compulsory hijab not merely as a garment, but as an internalized system of control. The series explores the female body as a site of visibility and erasure — present yet restrained, exposed yet confined. Through repetitive and enclosed spaces, the drawings reflect fragmentation and imposed limitation.
In 2017, during my participation in the Grand Baz’Art festival in Gisors (France), the project evolved formally. A series of images was developed in the forests of Gisors, placing a fully black-covered female figure within an open natural landscape. The contrast between the expansiveness of nature and the restriction of the body intensified the conceptual tension of the work.
The series consists of twenty drawings in pencil and charcoal on paper, presented with a movable black cover that invites the viewer to enact a gesture of unveiling. All works have been acquired by private collectors. This project marked the first significant recognition of my artistic practice.
